On your mark. Get set, Go!

The race for the MBA has begun. Orientation was on February 8th in Gainesville, FL at 7:30 am. For those of you who are not familiar with Central Florida, Gainesville is roughly 2 hrs from Orlando. So this marks the beginning of a commute that I'm sure I will dread. Once there, we have class until 6 pm. At least the normal start time from now on will be 8:30 am on Saturdays, but 7:30 am on Sundays. However, I don't have the commute until after class on Sundays trying to get home for work the next day.

As you can see, there was a considerable need for refreshments after the first day. For those of you wondering, NO, Captain Morgan is not in our MBA class. ;) I believe we have 59 students in our cohort.

The second day was an outdoor team building day. One of the activities we had to do was to climb up a pole and walk across a wire only holding on to ropes dangling from another wire above our heads. To give you an idea of how high up we were, I have posted a picture of someone else doing it. In case you didn't know, I'm not a fan of heights.

I did make it across, although not without at least once when I thought I was going to fall off. As you can see we are wearing safety harnesses, but doesn't seem to calm the fear of falling. It was a lot of fun though and I would do it again. I'm glad I was able to overcome my fear of heights to make it to the other side.

As for the MBA program, I'm excited to be doing it and had an awesome weekend getting to know my fellow classmates. It's going to be hard work but the rewards are well worth it. I'm definitely enjoying the contrast from engineering. Surprisingly, approximately 75% of the class is engineers, so in some respects I'm in familiar territory.

As much as I can't stand school, I'm bored if I'm not being challenged and this will definitely be a new and refreshing challenge.

Another Photo of the Dogs

I guess I'm becoming one of those dog people who can't stop obsessing about their dogs. I've enjoyed watching the evolution of their relationship and am glad they fight a whole lot less. It's always nice to snap a photo of two of them curled up together. After being alone for nearly two weeks this past Christmas, they had plenty of time to bond. I've noticed dramatic improvements anytime I'm gone for a few days, so being in Texas for 12 days must have been forever for the two of them. I've never seen them so happy as when I got back, they were running in circles around the house for probably 30 mins. or more.
